The Actor and the Audience A New Year and a new play! New Era's very own Chris Billingham will be directing his ingenious new play "The Actor and the Audience" on April 19th, 20th and 21st. This hour-long, one-act piece is set in a theatre not unlike New Era’s…sounds intriguing already! It promises to be a theatrical experience with a difference, featuring interaction between ‘the actors and the audience’ as the title suggests, but with a very unexpected and somewhat chilling twist at the end...

The play has a mixed age cast of 10 from teens to 50's with 5 female and 4 male roles, plus a further role playable by either gender, 50's. A full outline of the play is available on Chris's page on Facebook. We are delighted to be able to have the opportunity to showcase more of the talents among our younger members, while raising more of those much-needed funds for our planned extension to the theatre. Please come along to an informal read-through and discussion of the play on Saturday Feb 4th at 2pm at the theatre. Auditions will then be held on Sunday Feb 12th at 2pm, also at the theatre. All are welcome – bring your friends too!

Jumble Sale This will take place at St George's Hall on Saturday 18th February from 10 a.m. till midday. Help is needed in a variety of ways, so you could start by sorting through your jumble and dropping it off at the theatre on Friday 17th Feb, any time between 4 and 8 p.m.

We also need helpers on the day from 8.45 a.m. to ferry the jumble from the theatre to the church hall and to help set up the tables. Teas and coffees will also be on sale, accompanied by delicious home-baked cakes, scones or biscuits, all baked by you, our lovely volunteers. Cakes etc. can be handed in on Friday or brought along on the Saturday morning. All offers of help, queries and requests to have jumble collected should be directed to Janet on 01264 360255.
